Hello, I’m Julie Mavuanga, founder of Shutter Expeditions, a photography travel agency created in August 2024 with the mission of sharing my passion for photography and adventure with people from around the world.
Born in Paris in 1977, my journey is defined by a strong entrepreneurial spirit. I currently manage five companies across Spain and the United States. In 2020, I founded the AFAA Photography Association, a well-regarded platform in the industry.
Passionate about nature and photography, I combine my business experience and deep sense of commitment — strengthened by my role as a mother of four — to design carefully planned travel experiences where every detail matters.

With Shutter Expeditions, you’ll receive a fully personalized service — from booking your ticket to managing your visa and planning your activities at the destination. My trips are tailored to all skill levels and are just as engaging for photographers as they are for their travel companions. I treat every journey as a unique moment devoted to the group.
The photos you see on my social media @shutter.expeditions were taken by me, reflecting the simplicity and beauty I find in each adventure. What’s more, my trip prices are kept reasonable because I don’t work with intermediaries: I design, plan, organize, guide, and personally accompany every experience.

Why are our prices so affordable?
We don’t use external service providers at any stage — everything is done in-house, with passion and efficiency. Julie, the founder, takes care of everything from A to Z. She’s the one who takes you, organizes the activities, prepares the meals… and she does it all with a smile!
No driver needed: Julie is behind the wheel. No chef required: she loves to cook and is used to preparing delicious meals for large groups… and with a big family, she’s got plenty of experience!
And most importantly, Julie holds her own travel license, so there’s no need to go through expensive intermediary agencies. By eliminating middlemen and centralizing the organization, we’re able to offer high-quality vacations at truly affordable prices.
